NovaDB 3.0 – More Efficiency, More Control, More Possibilities

With NovaDB 3.0, the innovative platform for content and product data management reaches a new level of user-friendliness, flexibility, and efficiency. The latest version offers an optimized web interface, improved search functions, greater transparency in editing, and powerful new data management features. This significantly facilitates the daily work of editors, product data managers, and partners.

Optimized Web Interface: Edit Without Losing Context

One of the most significant improvements is the ability to edit referenced objects directly in the detail view. Users can now make changes within an object with a simple click, without leaving the current view. This reduces unnecessary switching between different views and increases efficiency in data maintenance.

Further improvements in the Web UI:

  • Intuitive Inline Editing: Clicking on a cell in the object detail view directly opens the editor—while respecting data types and user permissions.
  • Better Navigation: Column headers now offer the option to open definitions in a new tab.
  • Enhanced Highlighting: Changes made to objects, forms, or attributes during editing are visually highlighted, making modifications immediately visible.
  • Support for Inline References: Objects can now be referenced within simple HTML data fields and displayed as their display names.

Advanced Search Functions: More Precise and Flexible

The enhanced search function now provides more targeted search capabilities. In addition to the established full-text search, users can now work with comparison operators, including:

  • "Equal to" / "Not equal to" (for strings up to 64 characters in length)
  • "Greater than," "Less than," "Greater than or equal to," "Less than or equal to"
  • "Unset" (to find undefined values)

Additionally, a search is now automatically triggered when a search value is changed. This saves time and simplifies working with large data volumes.

More Control Over Managing Application Packages

The previous feature "Import Application Packages" has been renamed to "Manage Application Packages" and now offers enhanced functionalities:

  • Direct Integration with OCI Registry: Packages can be provided as artifacts in an OCI registry and imported or updated directly from there.
  • Updates at a Glance: Available updates are displayed immediately, ensuring users always work with the latest version.
  • Flexible Import Options: In addition to the OCI registry, it remains possible to import packages from an OPFA file.

Enhancements in Automation and Jobs

NovaDB 3.0 expands automation capabilities with new job types:

  • Thumbnail Generation for Large Data Sets: The job noxum.nova.job.createthumbnail can now process multiple input objects—ideal for extensive image and media archives.
  • Extracting Metadata from Binary Files: The new job noxum.nova.job.createmetadata reads Exif metadata from binary files and sets them as values for corresponding attributes.

Optimizations for the Open API and Delivery API

APIs have also been further developed to make integrations more secure and flexible:

  • Open API: Transactions are no longer conducted with a generic user account but with the authenticated user, improving traceability and security.
  • Delivery API:
    • The depth of resolution can now be limited using the resolveDepth parameter.
    • New filtering options allow comparisons with value lists (IN and NOT IN), significantly simplifying data queries.

Conclusion: NovaDB 3.0 Brings More Efficiency for Editors, Product Data Managers, and Partners

With these innovations, NovaDB 3.0 provides an even more powerful platform for managing content and product data. The improved user-friendliness, flexible search and editing options, as well as the extended automation and interface functions, lead to significant efficiency gains in everyday work.

NovaDB continues to evolve—with a clear focus on usability, scalability, and seamless integration into existing processes. With version 3.0, NovaDB sets new standards for content and product data management.
